A few weeks ago Mike took a trip down to Ft Lauderdale to hang out with Carrie & Greg and get to know them a little more. We are so thrilled about getting to capture this amazing time in their lives leading up to their marriage in February back in Ocala. They are such a neat couple and so very much in love! Just see for yourself.
Their story starts back in college at Florida Gulf Coast University. They were both athletes and were dating other people when they met. They eventually ended going on a double date to an Everblades Hockey game with some close friends. Only after Carrie made the first move and “asked” him out. The connection was pretty immediate and they became an official couple after a group spring break trip to Key West in 2008. Graduation followed soon thereafter, but they were committed to maintaining this relationship even while residing in different towns. They maintained a long-distance status for all but 18 months of their close to 5 year relationship.
Back in February on a group ski trip to Steamboat Springs, Greg changed two lives forever when he proposed to Carrie on the “Why Not” run. “Hey Carrie, will you marry me ?” “Well, why not” is probably NOT what was said, but nonetheless a YES was in there when he took a knee and asked Carrie to be his wife. And why not? They love each other and appreciate their differences. Greg just loves when Carrie puts on the headphones and sings Celine Dion. And Carrie just can’t believe that Greg always wants to help clean the dishes after a nicely prepared meal. Okay, so I’m totally kidding! It would be nice though, I mean the guy-cleaning-dishes thing
There’s a great foundation here for Carrie and Greg. Greg loves his family and is committed to his friends, yet loves spending time with Carrie just doing nothing. He does not pass judgement on others and makes Carrie want to be a better person. She loves also that he is a man of God, and that is so needed in marriage. God is the reason we get married in the first place! And He’s the ultimate reason we can stay married in spite of our differences and struggles along the way. Carrie also knows that the path she’s on professionally is the path God has her on. As she says in her own words “I believe I was put on this Earth to help people; to allow them to feel accepted and to offer them healing and hope.” And that’s what God did. And Carrie will continue to be the hands and feet that help get His work done here. These two will be a powerful force in the world for God’s glory.
Thank you, Carrie & Greg, for inviting us to be a part of documenting this amazing time in your lives. We are deeply honored. We can’t wait to celebrate with you and your families!!
