Although the threat of rain lingered throughout the morning, the weather could not have turned out more perfectly for Dave and Wendy’s Winter Park Civic Center wedding and reception. It was so great because everything was all right there. Everyone got ready there and there was no traveling. This is a very GOOD thing! It makes us happy, happy, happy. This is another wedding and couple that I just LOVE. I love who they are and the way they live, love and serve. They have such amazingly huge hearts and are such a blessing to all those who know them. You can read more about their awesomeness during their getting-to-know you session blog post. We are so honored to have been able to capture this fantastic day!
Dave & Wendy’s wedding was most certainly a family affair. Dave’s brother, Rick (the executive pastor at our awesome church Grace), married them. There were EIGHT kids from their families in the wedding ranging in ages from 7 weeks to 6 years! This means they win the “Most-kids-ever-in-a-wedding” award. LOL! It was just awesome and the kids are stinking adorable. The 5 girls all wore dresses made by Dave and Wendy. Dave also made a wagon in which the youngest was pulled down the aisle. In the wagon with the baby was a surprise sign made for Dave by Wendy’s cousin that read “Uncle Dave, Here comes your bride.” Dave’s mom provided the colorful florals for the wedding party. She was also the caterer and interior decorator! Wendy’s mom put together the decor for the lakeside ceremony. The colors were that of a vibrant fall with red, oranges, yellows and browns. The guys wore orange, red and brown argyle socks with everyone but Dave wearing a red tie. Dave wore an orange tie to obviously coordinate with his orange watch, orange shades and orange dancing shoes. It all goes well with all the other orange things in his life! (See getting-to-know-you session)
Dave and Wendy opted to see each other beforehand during a first look, allowing them lots of time for creating images. Wendy is a self-proclaimed “pictureholic”, so she was all about it. I think she also wins the “bride-who-had-the-most-fun” award’! She grinned from ear to ear all day and laughed non-stop. She was happy, happy, happy!! We were able to have time with them before and after the ceremony, which was so much fun. The lakeside ceremony was gorgeous and fellow Grace members provided the music there and during the cocktail hour. Immediately following the ceremony, it was important for Wendy to get images with precious twin boys that are very, VERY dear to her. We did get at least one handing Dave the “keys” to Wendy’s heart. So, so precious!
Theirs was the best start to a reception that I can remember. Everyone was introduced, and then Dave & Wendy made their way into the dance floor for their first dance. They were slowly swaying along when all of a sudden - BAM! Dance-off in full force! It was unbelievable!! It was truly the best and they had SO much fun doing it. The kids hit the dance floor, too, and all had a blast. Wendy’s late Grandma Wilkes was honored by the serving of Bud Light in red Solo cups. This was all Wendy remembers Grandma Wilkes ever drinking! (That’s awesome.) She also loved butterflies, and those adorned the card box and the Bride’s/Groom’s favorite drinks menu. Wendy’s favorite restaurant is Chick-fil-A and she had her own tray of nuggets for her personal enjoyment. Dave and Wendy also gave birthday cards to an aunt, a bridesmaid, and a friend whose birthdays were the day before, the day of and the day after. It was also the best man’s parent’s wedding anniversary, and they played their wedding song for them. Are these guys amazing or what?? Why don’t you take a look and see for yourself!
