← Orlando Wedding Photographer :: Dave & Wendy’s Winter Park Civic Center Wedding & Reception – A Family Affair
We’ve seen a lot of amazing details in our almost 9 years of business, but Emily & Brian’s were truly exceptional and just downright friggin’ awesome! We’d expect nothing less from the insanely talented Mrs Waters. It IS what she does for a living over at Emily Grace Designs, after all! Everything about this day was so amazing and magical – truly a one-of-a-kind experience. The details of this day were not just designed to be pretty or go with some sort of “theme” found on Pinterest. These details represent who Emily and Brian are in so many ways. These details help express their personalities and their creativity. You get a sense of who they are and what they are about through the details of their day, and that takes real talent to do. If you are getting married or are in need of a creative mastermind and planner for your event, Emily is your woman. She’s got mad skills I tell ya! Make sure to check out their wedding blog post and FUNbooth blog post in case you haven’t seen them already.
This wedding celebration was an “all hands on deck” kind of event. Numerous hours were put in by friends and family to make this all possible for Emily & Brian. Without the countless hours that Emily’s mom spent making tassels….without the melding of minds between her and her dad in terms of constructing and building all of the signs and wood structures…without the help from her sisters and their husbands/boyfriends with setting up the days before and the day of…without the help of her friends and bridesmaids and groomsmen keeping her sane and focused and working with her to complete final projects… without her extended family bringing desserts… without friends of her parents driving cakes down from Ocala… without the help of people that started as strangers and quickly became friends - their day as is was wouldn’t have been possible. It was only because of the effort poured in by so many did it happen the way it did!! How blessed are they to have such an amazing support system to help them bring their vision to life? They have so many people to be thankful for.
Emily and Brian really wanted food trucks at their wedding, and only a couple of venues actually allow such a thing. The Orlando Apopka airport was one of them . They rented a hangar and had the ceremony just outside on one side and the cocktail hour and FUNbooth photo booth on the other. The wedding color palette was festive, lively and fun. Emily loves all things shining and sparky and there was an emphasis on gold and shiny. Most everything was hand-crafted, and what wasn’t made by them was at least designed completely by them, mostly Emily. What was really great was that they had a “no cameras” ceremony where they asked guests not to photograph during the ceremony. This does several things but mainly it allows guests to truly be present during this time, honoring the sacred union of husband and wife. It allows guests to experience the moments with their own eyes, and not behind a camera. We are often so caught up in trying to create an image to make a post somewhere that we miss the experiences that are all around us!
As you scroll down through some of the details more info will be given above the images and even more info at the very bottom. Enjoy!
Save the dates were sent along with confetti in the smaller envelope informing people that their invitation to the Best Day Ever would be on its way!
All this was designed, printed and hand-assembled by Emily and her “team”.
Invitations arrived and they were amazing! Emily even sewed the all vellum pockets together and attached the unicorn tag.
Emily had the E “hearts” B necklace custom made and ordered through Etsy.
Emily’s dress was hand-made by a friend. Emily made all the sequined hangers and the girls got to choose their own dresses from where ever they wanted as ing as they were a gray(ish) in color.
Shirts were made by the best man, Morgan, in memory of their friend Johnny. These shirts were worn by the groomsmen all day.
And you can’t go wrong with Kate Spade shoes…..especially if they are gold polkadot Keds!!
Emily made the bags for the girls and the sequin heart pins. Items like these and many others can be found in her Etsy Shop.
Emily wanted a really unique ring and one that didn’t remind her of another couple she’s worked with so she chose a gemstone ring. She had the necklace in her handwriting made for Brian “just because”.
Friend of the family Carolyn Ayers designed the florals for the day.
More handiwork by Emily and her dad.
They and a beautiful marriage license that the entire wedding party signed.
Ceremony happening as food trucks begin to arrive.
I fell in love with these little unicorns that were all over the place.
They had 3 food tucks and an RV was rented to house the wedding party if they needed a place to chill.
The skies were amazing that day! I love that there are airplanes AND food trucks!!
Beer wall made by a friend. Beer. Wall. Enough said!
Pickle bar with fresh homemade pickles. YES please !!
It turned out to be a fairly windy day, which made for “good times” trying to keep everything on the tables upright !
They search all over – garage sales, thrift stores, anywhere – for vases and little bottles for the flowers. They then painted them all gold.
I love the unicorn dance floor decal.
The colorful glassware was rented. Emily ordered the disposable “flatware” and hand-painted them all to coordinate.
Absolutely love the way everything came together. Truly unbelievable!
The tassels on these hand-made place cards were made by Emily’s mom. It is always such an honor to be treated like a guest with our very own. These cards hung on a wooden board just inside the hangar.
The sweets table was amazing!! The cupcakes, cheesecakes and pies were made by uncles Dan & Jeff and bridesmaid Becky . The cake was from Betty Cakes in Ocala. Yummy!!
Emily and bridesmaid Becky made all the heart sticks. Nice job, ladies!
It was the robot unicorn wedding after all! www.robotunicornwedding.com
