Happy New Year and welcome to 2014! It’s going to be an amazing year, and I can’t think of a better first blog of the year than to share this amazing couple’s wedding day with you! Our lives a richer because of them.
November 9th was the Best Day Ever, and the day that Emily & Brian united magical forces to become One. Their story is so amazing and you can read more about them on their awesome wedding website, www.robotunicornwedding.com, and here on the blog during their getting-to-know-you session. This will likely be the longest blog post ever because there’s so much to share about this day. I’m not even sure where to start! I do hope this post with these photographic memories will bring joy to the hearts of Emily, Brian and all their friends who knew and loved Johnny, as this week marks a year since his passing. Since he was to be a groomsmen, he was there in spirit as his image adorned the t-shirts that all the groomsmen wore. YOLO!
I love everything about this wedding. Mostly, I love Emily & Brian. They are more like family than clients. My boys want to know when they can have another “playdate” with Mr Brian. Bryce increased his Nerf artillery & ammunition over the holidays in hopes of having the ultimate Nerf battle with Mr Brian, taking him “down to China Town” as he says. We had been excited about this day for a year! I was able to experience some of the most genuine, caring, loving, compassionate and authentic relationships amongst Emily & Brian and their friends, family & wedding party. There was a love for one another that you could just feel. It was truly amazing.
There were so many unique aspects to this day. Brian not only had groomsmen, but he also had “groomsgirls”. They were the most awesome groomsgirls I’d ever met – okay, the ONLY I’d ever met. Still AWESOME, nonetheless. It was also our first, and perhaps only ever, robot unicorn wedding! Emily, as owner and creative mastermind over all things magical at Emily Grace Designs, really got to exercise her creative style and spirit with her own wedding. It was the most unique wedding we’ve ever experienced. (Friggin’ A-ma-zing) The girls got ready at Emily & Brian’s and the guys came to meet them there for the first look, where Emily debuted her handmade wedding dress. (made by a friend of a friend) Their recently-purchased home is where they will build their future together, so it was important to incorporate it into the day. Everyone then traveled via party bus out to the Hammock House on the Wekiva river. The Hammock House provided accommodations, hosted the rehearsal dinner and provided gorgeous grounds for wedding day portraits. It was then time to travel over to the Orlando Apopka Airport for the outside ceremony and airplane hangar reception. Emily and Brian wrote their own vows and even broke bread and took communion. I did not make it through the ceremony with dry eyes.
As the ceremony took place in a grassy area just outside the hanger, food trucks started arriving in preparations for serving dinner after cocktail hour. Yes, FOOD TRUCKS!! Is that not crazy awesome or what?? The Crepe Company, Sushi & Seoul on the Roll and The TreeHouse Truck all provided the fantastic dinner that evening. While guests enjoyed cocktails, a pickle bar and other light appetizers, we made our way over with Brian & Emily to the old PamAm prop plane on the airport grounds. We were able to create some pretty cool images before falling victim to the numerous evil sand spurs and demonically possessed mosquitos. We were literally attacked by large black swarms of these things!! We ran back to the hangar as fast as we could for decontamination. LOL!
The hangar was detail-laden with hand-crafted wedding decor – so much so that I will be doing a completely separate post on JUST the details. (Of course!) You will see just a few here . The party in the hangar celebrating the new Mr & Mrs. was amazing. There were numerous dance-offs, one of which I kind of participated in. We also had a FunBooth just outside the hangar. Make sure you take a look at that slideshow if you haven’t already. I was just such a super-fun evening that I could do it all over again! (I could still go on and on about this day. Good thing I have another post coming soon!!! hehehe) Take a few moments to enjoy the slideshow from their day.
